SFH # 168 Functional Medicine with Dr. Ann Shippy
“I went to med school so that I could do medicine differently. I wanted to be able to really partner with patients to get to the root cause and to help their bodies get better and not just put them on medications.” – Dr. Ann Shippy
Dr. Ann Shippy is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Certified in Functional Medicine.
She operates a successful private practice in Austin, TX where she is known for her compassionate, attentive, and tireless approach to caring for her patients. She has gained a considerable reputation for successfully diagnosing and treating mold patients and patients with chronic inflammatory response syndromes (CIRS). Her areas of expertise also include autoimmunity, neurology, gastrointestinal disorders, behavioral health, infertility and pregnancy, and toxicity. In this episode of The School for Humanity, I speak with Dr. Shippy about her decision to attend medical school at the age of 32, the inspiration for starting her own functional medicine practice, meditation for gene expression, mindful eating, and the three ways to work with her.
